THE CZECH ENSEMBLE BAROQUE Orchestra & Choir

This ensemble, founded by Roman Válek (the conductor) and Elen Machová (Musica Florea) an excelent baroque violinist, brings together top musicians playing the replicas of period instruments, and singers, both focussing on the authentic interpretation mainly of Baroque and Classical music. Its members are regular participants of prestigious courses at universities at home and abroad. All of them also have their solo careers. The ensemble has had the whole series of projects to its credit, mainly of a vocal-instrumental character (D. Buxtehude - Magnificat, J. S. Bach - Actus Tragicus, Motets, Christmas Cantatas , A. Vivaldi - Missa in D, G. P. Telemann - Missa Brevis, Music at the Court of Rudolf II for Nord Deutsche Rundfunk Hamburg, a stage adaptation of G. F. Händel's opera Acis and Galatea, etc.).

The most prestigious projects of the last season were Wienna version of Mozart`s Don Giovanni for The International Opera Festival at the Opera Baltycka Theatre in Gdansk (Poland) and Händel`s Judas Maccabeus - an inaugural concert of Chamber Series concert season in 2007/2008 - a part of The Concert Cycle of Prague Symphonic Orchestra (FOK). The Ensemble has been "the court orchestra" of The Znojmo Music Festival in the Czech Republic, for three years now.

The second concert master of The Czech Baroque Ensemble is Peter Zajíček (the art director of Musica Aeterna, Bratislava). The Basso continuo players are highly reputable harpsichord players Monika Knoblochová and Barbara Maria Willi. The co-operating baroque brass ensemble, Sonatores Panonie, comes from Budapest.

The most important project of 2008/2009 season will be the premiere of Vivaldi`s opera - Dorilla in Tempe.

The choir of Baroque Ensemble unites professional solo-singers, soloists of vocal ensembles or superb chorus singers - all experts in early music singing.
